Shame in Clinical Practice
Live Webinar
4th June 2026
7-8.30 pm AEDT (Melbourne time)

Shame is often missed, misdiagnosed and misunderstood. As one of the most uncomfortable states, it can be avoided by therapists and clients alike and often presents in the consultation space through countertransference. If you have ever despaired at a clients complexity, or felt a compelling urge to refer out, or felt that heartsink feeling at seeing a certain client book in, then Shame may be at the centre of the client's presentation.
This webinar will help you advance your skills to best help those who need it most. Presented live on 4th June, there will be opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation. On demand from 5th June.

When a client has vast tracts of lost memories, or can’t recall what you spoke about last session, suddenly pins you with a death stare out of the blue, or starts talking in a really young voice… what is your next step? How do you manage this? If you have ever desperately wanted to refer a client out as you realise they have more than one presenting self, or really needed some guidance from someone really experienced in the field, here is your chance to learn some basic (and some beautifully sophisticated) strategies and skills to assist those who maybe need our skills the most. We will explore ways to understand, manage and embrace this complex, and more common than you think, presentation.
Cate Bearsley-Smith has a deep interest and wealth of experience in DID diagnosis and treatment and her kind, plural -welcoming style brings compassion to the intellectually fascinating topic of DID.
Presented live on 20th August, there will be opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation. On demand from 21st August.
